Jonathan Raymond, a passionate advocate for ensuring all children are served well in our public education systems, served as superintendent of the Sacramento Unified School District (SCUSD) from 2009 to 2013. Despite serving during the Great Recession, he led SCUSD—one of the country’s largest, most impoverished and ethnically diverse districts—to establish programs that raised graduation rates, introduced social and emotional learning to the curriculum, and transformed some of the poorest-performing public schools in the neediest neighborhoods into the highest performing.
Raymond now serves as president of the Stuart Foundation, a San Francisco–based private foundation focused on systemic and sustained change within public education. Its guiding principle is an education system that values the Whole Child by strengthening the relationships among students, educators, families, and communities.
